About Us

The British Bangladeshi Association North Somerset (BBANS) is a grassroots, community-led organisation dedicated to promoting the wellbeing, development, and inclusion of Bangladeshi and wider South Asian communities across North Somerset. Founded with a vision of unity and empowerment, we work tirelessly to address social inequalities, support lifelong learning, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our community.

A commitment to inclusion, collaboration, and empowerment drives our work. Whether it’s organising cultural festivals, offering women-only wellbeing programmes, providing guidance on education and employment, or engaging youth through sports, BBANS strives to create welcoming spaces where all individuals feel seen, supported, and valued.

We are proud to be a trusted local voice, bridging generations and cultures, and working in partnership with schools, local authorities, and other organisations to ensure lasting positive change.

Our Vision

We envision a thriving, inclusive North Somerset where South Asian culture is embraced and respected, and where individuals from all backgrounds have equal access to opportunities for personal growth, education, employment, and wellbeing. Through community engagement, advocacy, and culturally sensitive programming, BBANS is helping to shape a more vibrant, connected, and compassionate society, one where diversity is celebrated and every voice matters.

Our Mission

To promote South Asian heritage while supporting community development through education, advice, cultural engagement, and youth empowerment.
